In 2024, GACC Midwest hosted German Vice Chancellor Dr. Robert Habeck and a delegation of journalists in Chicago. The year also brought new member offerings, including a 401(k) plan and J-1 visa services, and a continued focus on workforce development through the ICATT and MAT² Apprenticeship Programs, which have helped over 800 apprentices. In 2024, the German American Apprenticeship and Education Foundation raised more than $50,000 at its inaugural fundraiser gala. Recognizing the success of these programs, Vice President Mario Kratsch was appointed to the US Department of Labor’s Advisory Committee on Apprenticeship, and GACC Midwest received an Apprenticeship Ambassador Certificate. German investment in the US reached $658 billion, with German companies creating 923,600 jobs. GACC Midwest also hosted successful events like the German Night Reception at IMTS and launched new cultural initiatives such as the White Asparagus Dinner.
