The GACC Midwest is organizing a delegation for German organizations, experts and stakeholders from the water infrastructure sector to the USA. This visit offers a unique opportunity to connect with leading experts, companies and projects in the U.S. and gain insights into their approaches to water infrastructure management, innovation and sustainability.
To advance the project, we are collecting declarations of interest from companies and organizations planning to participate in the trip to ensure that we will reach the required minimum number of participants. Completing the form does not oblige you to take part in the trip, but helps with planning and saves a place on the trip for suitable organizations.
This trip provides an excellent opportunity to learn about water infrastructure development in the US and build transatlantic connections for future collaboration. The project is funded by the European Recovery Program (ERP), which will cover the majority of the costs, including all hotels, sightseeing and events, transportation and selected meals. Participants will only pay a participant contribution of $685 and their flights to the US.
The trip will take place from April 7-11, 2025. We will visit the US states of Illinois and Wisconsin. We will visit companies, research institutions, utilities and water infrastructure projects such as:
- The Water Council
- The Badger Meter Lab at the Global Water Center
- Milwaukee Metropolitan Sewerage District
- WILO Headquarters in Wisconsin
- Milwaukee Water Works
- Jones Island Wastewater Treatment Plant
- Current Water - Resource Recovery Accelerator
- Jardine Water Purification Plant Chicago
- Stickney Water Reclamation Plant Chicago
- Northwestern University - Center for Water Research
The delegation will address the following topics, among others:
- Climate adaptation and flood protection
- Digital transformation and intelligent water systems
- Sustainable water management and waste water treatment
