The German American Business Outlook (GABO) is one of the most important economic indicators of German American business relations. Each year, the German American Chambers of Commerce and their Washington, D.C. liaison office, RGIT, survey more than 2,500 German subsidiaries in the United States on their views of the US as an investment location.

Companies increasingly focus their growth agenda on mergers and acquisitions (M&A). One out of five participating companies plan to expand their business in 2019 through M&A, up from 8% in 2017 and 11% planned for 2018.
