Accounting for $190bn annual revenue and employing 580,000 individuals, the German food and beverage industry is the leading European player for food processing excellence. Furthermore, the sector consists of 90% SME manufacturers and is attributed as the second largest in terms of value added to the overall German economy.

 

Trade in the food and beverage industry between Germany and the US shows strong relationships. Increasing consumer purchasing power in both the US and Germany aided exports of 9.9% and 5.8% of the total world market share of food and beverage products, respectively. With the ever-increasing prominence of Industry 4.0 and smart manufacturing technologies, the food and beverage sector is taking the steps to maximize its production and processing capabilities – and to meet this worldwide consumer demand.
