GACC Midwest will bring together lightweight material experts from both sides of the Atlantic Ocean in Knoxville, TN, West Lafayette, IN, and Detroit, MI. The roadshow will provide company representatives, research professionals, and other industry stakeholders in the lightweight technologies industry the opportunity to discuss potential for international collaboration, technology transfer, and best practices in innovation.

A special role in lightweight materials clusters in the US is taken by the research institute IACMI (Institute for Advanced Composites Manufacturing), which is part of the Manufacturing USA network and cooperates closely with the local Oak Ridge National Laboratory. Their aim is to develop and deploy advanced lightweight materials manufacturing technologies and to implement education and training programs to prepare the US workforce for the challenges ahead.
