The development and use of lightweight construction solutions is an important requirement for the competitiveness of German industry.

GACC Midwest will bring together lightweight material experts from both sides of the Atlantic Ocean for a series of events in Knoxville, TN, West Lafayette, IN, and Detroit, MI. The roadshow will provide company representatives, research professionals, and other industry stakeholders in the lightweight technologies industry the opportunity to discuss potential for international collaboration, technology transfer, and best practices in innovation.

A special role in lightweight materials clusters in the US is taken by the research institutes IACMI (Institute for Advanced Composites Manufacturing) and LIFT (Lightweight Innovations for Tomorrow), which are part of the Manufacturing USA network. Their aim is to develop and deploy advanced lightweight materials manufacturing technologies and to implement education and training programs to prepare the US workforce for the challenges ahead. Other important partners for this conference are MEDC (Michigan Economic Development Corporation) and MSU (Michigan State University).
