Transatlantic Cluster Initiative

Roadshow on E-Mobility

E-Mobility is the overarching concept applying to both vehicular transportation and infrastructure networks, with the ultimate aim to produce more environmentally-friendly and efficient vehicles through drive electrification.

E-Mobility also systemically approaches energy supply aspects as well as charging and traffic infrastructures.

With the German government providing over €1.5 billion for research and development in this field since 2009 and an ever-more-relevant dialogue surrounding transatlantic cooperation of policy, regulatory, technical and infrastructure measures, this is shaping a strong demand for electrification of transportation both in the U.S. and Germany.

Furthermore, with four out of ten electric vehicle models (BEVs and PHEVs) available in the US being German group brands - and an ever-increasing number of US. cities adopting smart city policies - American appetite for E-Mobility innovation is one set to continue growing.

Actively building on this evolving topic, GACC Midwest is organizing a US roadshow on the topic of E-Mobility from August 27 - 31, 2018.

“We participated in the Transatlantic Cluster Initiative roadshow on Industry 4.0 to observe best practices of how economic development works in the USA. Through great organization by GACC Midwest, we had an insight into workshops carried out by networks to support implementing smart devices in production. We took part in a tour of mHUB, Chicago’s first innovation center focused on physical product development and visited companies to understand the progress of digitization in production. The program gave us the chance to network and organize strategic partnerships with companies and organizations closely aligned with the operational and economic goals of our organization.”
