Innovation Seminars

Intelligent Transportation Systems

Cities and metropolitan areas are becoming more reliant on energy-efficient transportation systems to move people and goods in a cost- and time-efficient manner as a result of the urbanization trend across the US and its negative impact on national energy consumption. The integration of Big Data and alternative fuel technologies is a key factor when it comes to operating energy-efficient multi-modal transportation networks.

Most of these developments, which are considered new in the U.S., are already long-established in Germany with its state-of-the-art infrastructure system. Since numerous sustainability and energy-efficient technologies have already been operating successfully in Germany for many years, there are opportunities for German companies to establish themselves as pioneers in the US market.

The German American Chamber of Commerce of the Midwest, Inc. organized a series of Innovation Seminars on the topic of Energy Efficient Transportation Systems to foster a transatlantic knowledge exchange and explore collaboration opportunities

Event Details & Presentations

The seminars were held at four renowned universities across the Midwest.

The seminars included presentations by selected German companies and institutions, and feature an expert speaker from the Smart Transportation Sector in Germany.

The seminars included opportunities for the students, their professors, and the participating German company representatives to meet and network in order to share best practices and foster future relationships.

Program Impressions

The Innovation Seminars were supported by the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy (BMWi) as part of the Energy Solutions Initiative on the basis of a decision by the German Bundestag.
