Energy Efficiency Innovation Seminars
Intelligent Transportation Systems
With rising fuel prices and the increasing demand for environmentally-friendly products, current developments in the transportation sector are gradually focusing more on energy efficiency. In the automotive sector, manufacturers use technologies and systems to produce more “green” vehicles and increase fuel efficiency. At the same time, more and more cities support the implementation of public transit systems, extensive bike lane networks, and walkable neighborhoods. Furthermore, the integration of smart IT components for better service quality and more efficient operation is becoming an increasingly more important element in the transportation sector.
Most of these developments considered new in the U.S. are already long-established in Germany with its state-of-the-art infrastructure system. Numerous sustainability and energy-efficient technologies have already been operating successfully in Germany for many years.
The German American Chamber of Commerce of the Midwest, Inc. organized a series of Innovation Seminars that focused on Energy Efficient Transportation Systems that facilitated a transatlantic knowledge exchange on the topic.
The seminars were held on April 11-14, 2016 at four renowned universities across the Midwest. The seminar included presentations by select German companies and institutions, and featured an expert speaker from the transportation sector in Germany. Students were able to connect their classroom studies to real-world technologies and developments. Additionally, the seminars included opportunities for the students, their professors, and the participating German company representatives to meet and network.
The goal was to connect and position the companies with the students - future decision makers, clients, employees, as well as with professors – to get mentioned in lectures or start a collaboration etc.
Each seminar was followed by a networking reception on campus, as well as a VIP networking dinner with the professors and other presenters.
