ChamberBrief 2017: September Edition

Dear Members and Friends,

We are excited to share the latest developments at the Chamber. Congratulations to our former Skills Director Mario Kratsch, who was named Vice President alongside Werner Ott. Mario will continue in his role leading our Skills Initiative work. This new title will also support his work in representing GACC Midwest to the many important stakeholders and partners he regularly comes into contact with.

Aside from workforce development, digitalization is another key topic for the future of our network. Our Digitalization Forum on October 13 features discussions on cryptocurrency, cloud storage and big data. Learn how to optimize your company's business practices for digital success. Hear pitches from innovative start-ups on how they can support SMEs as they navigate the digital world. Get your tickets to the forum today.

In the 2017 GACC Midwest Report, you will be able to show us how you "disrupt traditional." Submit content for our annual feature publication, a sought-after resource by C-level executives in both the US and Germany. Contributing content to this report is a perfect way to stand out and showcase your company, region or product. Contact Jasmin Welter to secure your spot in the report.

The annual German American Business Outlook (GABO) surveys German firms in the US on their view of the US as business location. Together with KPMG, we will launch GABO on September 25, after the German election. Filling out this survey only takes a few minutes and will help us advocate for your interests and goals vis-à-vis US officials in 2018.

Our findings will be integrated into DIHK's World Business Outlook. The results will be sent to each participant and be presented in NYC on December 11.  Please mark your calendars!

Our September Luncheon featured Thomas Ginschel, CEO of Zentis, who presented recent consumer and market trends in the food & beverage industry. Join the next Luncheon in Schaumburg on October 4, when Herbert Quelle, Consul General of the Federal Republic of Germany discusses how the new German administration will affect transatlantic business relations.

Lt. Governor Rebecca Kleefisch recognized our member Hermle Machine Company as the first employer in the state to introduce the ICATT apprenticeship program. The Lt. Governor was joined by the Department of Workforce Development (DWD) Secretary Ray Allen and GACC Midwest officials. Hermle is leading the charge to close the skills gap in Wisconsin through their involvement with ICATT.
